Why the Artificial Intelligence that could match human is nowhere in sight

The artificial intelligence just like its name, artificial. Its made by a human through some sorts of a program designed to solve specific problems. For all human history, every program that is being made is always following a set of rules set by its creators and in this case the programmer. A program could not think outside of its code. Most of them are operating based on input, just like its name, computer or to compute. Meaning, only able to operate based on input. If by any chance you put something which is not yet programmed there is a higher chance that the AI won’t be that intelligent. To create human-like minds, we first need to understand what is consciousness and what it meant to the world of technology.

Michio Kaku believes that there are 3 levels of consciousness there are three stages of consciousness. The first stage is a consciousness that understands our position in space. The second level of consciousness that understands our position concerning other people, emotions, social hierarchy, politeness, etiquette, and third predicting the future. Without understanding what is consciousness that it would be impossible to create an artificial mind. AI without the capability of predicting the future is no match for the human level of consciousness. Most of the so-called AI only reached level one they only understand their position in space and how to react on certain conditions example of this consciousness would be AI in self-driving cars and level two consciousness would be the ASIMO robot. To date, none of the AI can think and outmatch its creators in predicting the future, even the Duplex.

To date, even artificial intelligence is reacting based on the input. Mostly could not feel emotions or etiquette let alone predicting the future. They’re just a program, a very advanced one but nowhere near the human mind capabilities. Someday, if the AI could design itself and think for its future then maybe, just maybe, AI could match the human minds. To date, the reality only Google Duplex has been able to pass the Turing test since it was introduced. Turing test is a test to measure the machine’s intelligence like that of a human. It means that the world of AI is started to show some progress but even some scholars still doubt that Duplex is a human-like program partly because it could not predict the future and only react base on the input they gave it.

But is it that impossible for AI to reach level 3 in consciousness? The answer seems bright. Currently, in a scientific community, no one knows the real answer of what is consciousness the neurologist believes that it’s something that comes from the interconnections of neurons and there’s this theory that believes that our minds just like a computer, full of quantum mechanics. There is this theory from Hameroff — Penrose called Theory of Quantum Consciousness, he believes that consciousness originates at the quantum level inside neurons in contrast to the conventional view that consciousness is a product of connections between neurons. To put it simply, Penrose believes that our minds are just like a computer. This theory is not widely accepted in the scientific community, to agree with this theory is denying the very basic principle of free will. But then again, this assumptions is highly debatable, if consciousness rose from the quantum process within the microtubes from our brain (like the theory would suggest) then it would be easy to think that the same process applies to computer.

There is too disagreement between what is consciousness in the scientific community partly because the object is just too complicated many different. In short, it would be too hard to think that any artificial intelligence reached level 3 anytime soon.
